The Challenge is to extend a Tier 1 wireless provider 4G/LTE coverage, and add new revenue streams by integrating with Tier 2 and international service providers networks, to enable inbound and outbound voice and data roaming.
Subcontracted by Oracle, CeleniumSM was able to roll out the first partner production configuration within three months, starting from ground zero. We created call flows to align partners on roaming use cases and developed roaming DIAMETER Signaling Solution Architectures and Engineering Designs on Oracle (Tekelec) DSR platform.
Signaling is a Control-Plane mechanism required between Core Network Elements (NE) to set up communication channels for user traffic. Once a user is authenticated, access is authorized and funds are available for service, the traffic path is established and the user can use the network resources. The support of growing users demands, of high-speed mobile services, requires a signaling system that connects a large number of network elements, nationwide.
The DIAMETER Routing Agent (DRA) functions as the nerve center between clients and servers for DIAMETER Signaling in the Evolved Packet Core (EPC). It supports multiple access technologies including the 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE), 3G eHRPD, as well as provide the same capabilities for the IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS).
The solution supported multiple business partners over S6a, S6b, STa, SWx, and Gx interfaces. Test cases, solution prototypes, and interoperability testing were placed to validate services over RAN vendors’ EPC. Charging mediation designed and implemented to modify 3GPP Charging Characteristic AVP to support billing. MoPs were authored to implement solutions in production. CeleniumSM supported the customer teams in real-time network analysis, troubleshooting, and issues resolution in the lab and in production, along with performance studies.
“I worked with Ahmad for 2 years. He is a customer-focused and detail-oriented engineer. He possesses strong skills in designing and integration testing of wireless core; he works very hard to deliver a quality product on-time.”
